As the name suggests, in this tutorial we are going to take a look at some techniques for automotive rendering, so that you can use them on your own projects.
This tutorial is going to be in two parts.

This tutorial is for those of you new to automotive rendering or even for some you with a bit of experience.

In the first part i will show you how to make different materials for different parts of the car, then we will assign our own materials to every little part of the car.
we will also use vray RT to speed up the process.

The next part will be the lighting, rendering and compositing in after effects. we will output a bunch of render elements and use them in our final composite.
In the next post I will talk about that a bit more.

Level : intermediate , advanced

If you have any question about the tutorial please post them on the forum, i’ll answer as soon as possible. and also feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.
This is the second part of the fundamentals of vray material. In this tutorial we will cover the refraction part of vray material as well as translucency. I will not cover the common parameters of refraction, because we did it in the first part completely.

So if you want to learn more please watch the first part first. As I said in the previous post even if you are an intermediate user watching this tutorial doesn’t hurt you, there are probably new things that you may not know.

Also as always I keep the tutorials short enough so that are not boring. The next part (hopefully the last) will be also out in the next couple of days.

Keep that in mind your first and almost most complete resource is the software documentation, if you ever need check that out as well.

Level : basic , intermediate

If you have any question about the tutorial please post them on the forum, i’ll answer as soon as possible. and also feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.
This is the first part of the fundamentals of vray material. For this tutorial I used 3ds max , but if you are a maya user you can also follow along, at the end of the last part i will add a bonus lesson dedicated to maya. There not that much of a difference at least not in this case,

So I didn’t add only 3ds max to the title specialy because of that reason.
Even though this is the basics of vray material but I strongly suggest you to watch the video even if you are a intermediate-advanced user, there might be something new for you to learn.

And note that in this tutorial i will cover only diffuse and reflection parameters but in-depth.
Other part(s) will be out soon as well.

Level : basic , intermediate

In this tutorial I will teach you how to create old style photographs. Actually this tutorial was going to be inside maya, but then I changed my mind and used 3ds max instead. I will show you how to use gamma correction to increase the detail in your renders without increasing the render time.

And also we will use some of the vray 2.0 new features as well as render elements, how to use the new vray light select to relight the rendered scene after the rendering process.
you will learn how to use displacement correctly to decrease the render time and increase the quality.

You will also learn some techniques to find a nice ratio between quality and time and I will show you some tricks to avoid light licking issue.

In the second part which is the compositing part in after effects, after a bit of theory, we will try to simulate an old style photo.

To be honest I was going to make this tutorial only available for purchase, but then I changed my mind and release it for free. You know why ?! Cos I’m the nice guy

Finally we have a chance to learn the most powerful software of all times, that’s what I believe. In this tutorial we will go over the basics of maya 2012 , the UI, customizing the menus, shelves, navigating around inside maya, some hot-keys and …

But as I wrote in my previous post this software also take some time to learn, of course it completely depends on you; the more you practice the more things you learn and much sooner you will get comfortable with the software.

At first it might seem strange to you, cos its more of a node based software unlike many other softwares you probably worked with.

Anyway, this is one of the softwares that I will cover completely, I mean 99% ! from the basics to most advanced scripting and …

you know why ? Cos I love it the most

At any time you can refer back to its documentation, which is you first and best resource to learn maya.

Note : this tutorial has no project files included.

Level : Basic

If you have any question about the tutorial please post them on the forum, i’ll answer as soon as possible. and also feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.
Today is the first day of a long journey! what I am going to do in this series is to teach you 3ds max step by step from start to finish. something is obvious, that its going to take a long time. hopefully i’m not disappointing you, but to become a professional artist it may take months or even years, even if you start from today.

In this first part we will just take a look at file management system in 3ds max, customizing layouts, navigating inside and using some helpful shortcuts to make life easier.

And more important; i’m not going to cover animation in this series, at least not by the time i’m writing this article. we are mainly going to use 3ds max for product visualization, architectural visualization, simple walk-through animations and like so…

Probably in near future i may decide to cover animation in 3ds max also, but for now my goal is to use maya for such things.

Doesn’t need to mention that at any time you can refer to 3ds max documentation, which is the first and most important source in learning this amazing software.

Note : this tutorial has no project files included.

Level : Basic

If you have any question about the tutorial please post them on the forum, i’ll answer as soon as possible. and also feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.
here we a tutorial on how to integrate these two powerful softwares. first we will take a look at how to create a new character in endorphin based on our maya character, then adding some forces and behaviours to simulate a car hit scene.

from there we will export the scene back to maya and continue our work to complete the shot. its better to have some basic information about endorphin, maya HIK, craft director studio and some other basic stuff.

of course the main purpose of this tutorial is just to show you how to use both softwares in conjunction with each other and give you some idea, you may yourself take it to the the next level and enhance the shot much more.

if this tutorial is popular enough then i probably show you how to integrate that into live action and add effects to create a highly realistic scene.

note : if you need more help about endorphin, please check the manual which has several nice tutorials.

Level : intermediate - advanced

If you have any question about the tutorial please post them on the forum, i’ll answer as soon as possible. and also feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.
